We live in a fast-paced world; truly enough our ability to adapt to the changes around us are extraordinary like never before. When we are introduced to new technology for example, we all look forward to owning that new mobile phone everyone has been dying to get their hands on. Furthermore, we as human beings have learned all throughout these years that everything was made for our good. Interestingly enough — not every piece of technology, fashion, beauty and art pieces out there may be beneficial to us. We then have the choice to choose which and what we should welcome in our lives — and that includes design.
If I have a thousand ideas and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied. ~ alfred nobel
Alfred Nobel was a Swedish chemist who invented a number of explosives in his lifetime. He was later condemned by the public for causing more deaths that could ever happen compared to the previous years at that time. When a French newspaper have mistaken his brother's death to be his, and put his name on the obituary with a headline that could be translated as "the merchant of death is dead", he was disappointed for the thought of leaving that kind of impression to others. Following that, he entrusted his whole fortune in giving out prizes to outstanding people in the field of Science and Literature, later known as the Nobel Peace Prize.
As a generation who aims for a better tomorrow, we also have to contemplate on how the future of design will affect us and the following generation. Will it be beneficial, will it be accessible, or will it just be another part of history that people did not approve of? When it comes to design, I believe that not everything would do just what we think it will do. Social media was created to connect people, but also through it, conflicts arose, cyber-crimes took place and many have even misused the supposed to be "advantageous" to everyone.
Design in its entirety has its own pros and cons that if we don't look at and study it carefully, the undesirable may happen. As they say, "come up with ideas not just for yourself, but for the rest of the world."
In the fashion industry, designs come and go, yet there is one thing that remains: style. When the basic foothold of design is present, it's either people can copy it or improve it. In technology likewise, we already have the essential foundation — again, we can look at the advantages and disadvantages. We can choose to diminish the imperfections and enhance it to make it better, bigger and stronger in the coming years. As we are the children of innovation, we should look forward to creating something that will last. Something that will not be forgotten in history, but something that has grown and have been tested through time.
In interior design, minimal looks and personal touches are one important thing that many people in general have come up with designs even better than designers themselves. This fact should encourage people in the workplace to come up with fads that are original, sophisticated, and ultimately unique. So what are the trends we have to consider right now?
I am not a designer myself, but I take pride in my own creativity. In this era, many people come up with diy's or (do-it-yourself) where the opportunity to create something and turn your ideas into a reality is as easy as 1,2,3. Therefore, I think that diy's are the trends that we have to whole-heartedly give a chance to bloom this 2017 and the coming years. Needless to say, let's give every average person the opportunity to explore in their field of design for whereas ideas exist, designs will abound.
Thanks for making it to this portion of the internet. I am truly grateful for each one of you for reading my entries! Most of what I've written here are unspoken words — words I wish I could've said or shared with anyone in person but has remained in my heart until I was able to write it in here.
My life's full of downs than ups, but through it all, I have seen and tasted the sweetness of God's grace and love. With that, I can tell you with a convinced heart that God is faithful, He is good and He never runs out of love for you and for me. Hope you enjoy your read(s)!
Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
