A little bit of Monica in my life.. Hahaha! I'm just having a little bit of fun writing this thing. But before September ends, I would like to share to you all what I did during the Eid Holidays here in Dubai. Does it sound exciting? Because for me, it actually does. I pretty much got tired of all the exhausting activities that my family experienced. But the fun was of course, worth it. I think there were about nine days of holidays, which meant no work and more fun! For those of you who doesn't know what Eid means, I'll be a little kind to you and so I asked Mr. Google what the celebration actually meant and he said: "The second and final Eid celebration of the year is called Eid Al-Adha. It commemorates the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage. Although only pilgrims in Mecca participate in the Hajj fully, Muslims around the world join them in celebrating Eid Al-Adha."
There you have it!
And for now, I'll put into details how we, together with friends and families celebrated this blissfulevent.
Here we go again! I was really busy the past week because of the Eid Holidays here in Dubai- which I will be posting about here on the blog really soon.
For now, I decided to do an OPM (Original Pilipino / Pinoy Music) list of songs that I really like. For those of you who don't know, I am a Filipino and I also like listening to Filipino music from time to time. Listening to songs that are sang in my native tongue really makes me appreciate the talented songwriters and singers who came up with such beautiful lyrics and melodies.
And because I've been really addicted to the latest trending, phenomenal love team of the Philippines - Aldub, hearing them dub or sing OPM songs simply makes me appreciate the beauty of the Philippine's culture through music.
So here, I am going to share to you my top 5 favorite Filipino songs for this week and I'm inviting you all to have a taste of the Philippine's richness when it comes to expressing words through songs.
After a month of posting my weekly playlists, I decided to do a series break and review some songs too. The reason why I wanted to do this is because I've listened to some songs that I would like to share to all of you.
Some songs just give me goosebumps and really inspires me. That's one thing I also want you to experience. This time, let's talk about the song from Hillsong's latest album, Empires.
Let's take a look at their song called "Touch The Sky".
When I first heard this song, I wasn't sure and clear about its meaning.
I first watched the acoustic version of this and then I searched the lyric video afterwards. It's really a great song that conveys such a good meaning.. I've also watched the video where the people who sang or wrote this song explained how this song came to be.
It speaks about total surrender. It tells us that when we're in the verge of giving up, we have someone to cling on to. We just have to reach out to God and find ourselves hitting the ground. It also says in the lyrics that we find our lives when we lay it down.
This song probably taught me that we've got nothing here in the world. We must not treasure whatever it is that we have here because we will definitely lose it all.
AND WHAT DO YOU BENEFIT IF YOU GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD BUT LOSE YOUR OWN SOUL? -MARK 8:36 NLT
A couple of days ago, I was on the search for some new music and musicians when I came across a video shared on my Facebook timeline. Without hesitation, I clicked on the link and I was directed to the video itself. The caption said: “This Hillsong Young and Free mashup currently has 80, 324 views on YouTube. I'm blown away. I never thought this video would get over 1,000 views let alone 80,000. Thanks so much for liking and sharing it." I was so amazed by how this guy had sang some covers of a couple of songs which really sounded good and sweet. He has mashed up a few songs which already hit thousands of views on Youtube, looking forward for more. Given that I was already on Facebook, I stalked a little bit (just a little bit) more about him and later ended up on his official page. To make the long story short, I messaged him and asked if I could put up a little article focused mainly on his music and he said yes!! So here ya guys, meet Michael Fogarty!
Time for my weekly playlists again! I've enjoyed my week so far, there are lots of amazing things. Although there are lots of struggles, I still managed to get over it. By God's grace of course.
And so, here we go! Round 4 of my Tuesday Playlists :)
LSS # 1 Song that made me move
Nothing's gonna stop us now by Starship
Alright, alright, this song may sound unfamiliar to you or maybe it just sounds too old, but believe me, I really love this song and I can freely move to it! As in!
LSS # 2 Song that inspired me
Hillsong Young & Free mashup by Michael Fogarty
I bumped this song when a friend of mine shared it on Facebook. And it's just amazing how he mixed all songs together. I'm still working for the blog I'll be putting just about Him! Watch out for that..

LSS # 3 Song that made feel on love
This I promise you by N Sync
I love songs about promises made and fulfilled. It just tells me that promises are not AT ALL meant to be broken. And yep, the Aldub love team I've been addicted to lately, also lip synced this song which was pretty cool!
LSS # 4 Song I'd skip right now
Chandelier by Sia
I'm just not in the mood to listen to 'high pitched' songs that almost sound like screams.
LSS # 5 Favorite song of the week
Cheerleader by OMI
I sooo love this song, not to mention the fact that I love listening to reggae. Everything about this song is amazing. The lyrics, the melody, everything. I like Bugoy Drilon's version of it but either way, it still sounds perfect. I recommend it for those who just wants to catch some good vibes all along the way!
There it goes!
If you haven't listened to these songs yet, head on over to YouTube and tell me what you think!
Thanks for making it to this portion of the internet. I am truly grateful for each one of you for reading my entries! Most of what I've written here are unspoken words — words I wish I could've said or shared with anyone in person but has remained in my heart until I was able to write it in here.
My life's full of downs than ups, but through it all, I have seen and tasted the sweetness of God's grace and love. With that, I can tell you with a convinced heart that God is faithful, He is good and He never runs out of love for you and for me. Hope you enjoy your read(s)!
Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
