We spent last Sunday (June 25th) with our family in the farthermost part of the UAE (I guess) which is Al Ruwais. Al Ruwais is a 4-5 hour drive from where we live in Sharjah. Since it was a special holiday because of Eid Al Fitr, an Islamic celebration after Ramadan, we had the time to travel and meet up with our cousins, aunts and uncles. We left Sharjah at around 8 in the morning and reached the capital (Abu Dhabi) at exactly 9:35 am. We quickly dropped by in one of my uncle's home there and headed to Yas mall right after. The mall was jam packed with people that it took the rest of us hours to find parking due to the #Megasale.
Many portions of my life, I'd say, have been greatly influenced by music. Some of my beliefs have also been shaped by the movies I've seen and absolutely loved. Music and movies have impacted my life in ways people or other everyday things wouldn't. But in the rise of new music and movies, surprising genres and a change of taste in many of its "creators" must I say, which one do I think will continue to have a deeper impact on me? Music or movies?
Hello, everyone! How did last week go for you? I hope y'all had a great one. Mine went fine except for the last few days. A friend we know recently passed because of a car accident (or avoiding a car accident rather). It was heartbreaking to know that just a few days apart would be Father's day. His children were childhood friends of ours and it was devastating to know how they'd feel after the loss. So for the drivers here in the UAE, please be very alert and careful when driving. It doesn't mean that when the road is clear, you should relax as this is what often causes the accident — when you didn't see things coming along. Losing a loved one may be horrible but let's say that at the end of it all, we will all have to say goodbye to this earthly home and be welcomed in the next life— where pain and sadness won't exist anymore. Moving on, I thought of sharing with you a Sunday Currently entry because one, it's Sunday and two, I couldn't think of a new post yet :P
Here's my Sunday Currently entry:
Hello guys! How's your week going? Mine is going smooth except for today. Ah, I woke up today with a terrible stomach pain. I'm guessing it was because of inhaling excess gas when I was asleep. Haha! To top it off, the electricity in our area suddenly went off. In a country like the UAE, it is so difficult to lose power especially when summer is around the corner. I'm thankful though that it was back after roughly 20 minutes. Thank God that almost all our neighbors are locals which simply means that when they get electricity as soon as possible, we'll get it too! Electricity problem fixed, stomach pain, nah.
Hello, everyone! I hope you are all having a great Sunday so far.. It's been a month since I last wrote an entry in here and I absolutely feel guilty for not being able to come up with something to write. May has been a pretty toxic month for me and my family. The first week of May was spent shifting things in our new place — or new room shall I say. Imagine having to meet course deadlines while embracing the pain of sore shoulders that came from carrying heavy things! Anyway, to top off the month of May, some good things happened like preparing the decorations for Zach, my *ehem* godson. (I'm feeling so old but yes) We spent the rest of May making slideshows, cutting off crafts for decor, buying stuff and literally just putting things to places. Another event that happened is the awesome Hillsong x Voice International thanksgiving dinner that took place last 27th of May. The food was delish and also, it has been great meeting the volunteers I got to work with during Hillsong United's concert in Dubai last 28th-29th of April. Read about that here. Lastly, the the birthday celebration we have all been waiting for happened just 2 days ago (June 2) and the picture above is the Piñata where kids (mostly adults) joined in and had so much fun catching all those candies. Long story short, May may have been a lot stressful but maybe it's been the most productive too. Here's another entry for the Sunday Currently. Enjoy!
Thanks for making it to this portion of the internet. I am truly grateful for each one of you for reading my entries! Most of what I've written here are unspoken words — words I wish I could've said or shared with anyone in person but has remained in my heart until I was able to write it in here.
My life's full of downs than ups, but through it all, I have seen and tasted the sweetness of God's grace and love. With that, I can tell you with a convinced heart that God is faithful, He is good and He never runs out of love for you and for me. Hope you enjoy your read(s)!
Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
