Hello guys! How's your week going? Mine is going smooth except for today. Ah, I woke up today with a terrible stomach pain. I'm guessing it was because of inhaling excess gas when I was asleep. Haha! To top it off, the electricity in our area suddenly went off. In a country like the UAE, it is so difficult to lose power especially when summer is around the corner. I'm thankful though that it was back after roughly 20 minutes. Thank God that almost all our neighbors are locals which simply means that when they get electricity as soon as possible, we'll get it too! Electricity problem fixed, stomach pain, nah.
Whenever I have stomach pain, I get so nervous as I have already battled with gastritis before. For those of you who may not know, gastritis is a condition where the stomach, intestines or basically any organ of the digestive system gets inflamed which of course, causes pain. Horrible pain. It's either caused by wrong diet, a bacteria (H. Pylori) or hyper-acidity. In my case, I have just controlled what I eat and took medications for the first few months that I was having the pain. It was around October 2013 when I started feeling really uncomfortable especially after I ate my meals that I would just curl into a ball to relieve the pain. Few months later, my mom contacted my aunt who's a doctor and asked for advices. She referred Maalox -- an antacid which neutralizes stomach acidity. The medicine worked but I didn't really want to have sort of a 'maintenance' and have my parents spend money too. Soon after, I opted out for a remedy.
Laban Up or Laban is a probiotic that contains live bacteria that has so many health benefits including the prevention and treatment of diarrhea, control of allergies, modulation of gastrointestinal functions and many more. So from the start of 2014 'til mid 2016, I was drinking a 200 ml tetra pack of Laban Up everyday. It was a church mate who referred it to me and thank goodness, it worked! (Hi, Tita Jo!)
At first, I admit that I was hesitant to drink it as it smelt like something else (no need to mention!) but as days went on, I began to crave for it every single day. To make the most out of it, I also had to control my diet. Sounds funny. Me? Controlling my diet? Yes. I had to list all of the food I wasn't supposed to eat. I wasn't allowed to eat chocolates, spicy foods, oily foods, citrus fruits, anything sour, anything that contained caffeine, processed food and dairies. I also wasn't allowed to drink coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and citrus juices. So what was I allowed to eat? Bread, beans, rice and the old time "veggie" only. It sucks that I had moments where I just stared at my sisters devouring a pack of chocolate or watch them drink a cup of hot coffee on a morning, but I had to avoid all those for my good. Many days, I had to cry it out to the Lord because gastritis could lead to stomach ulcers and stomach ulcers could lead to something much, much worse. While I haven't totally restrained myself from eating fast food (oily) and chocolates, at least I already have an awareness of how much I should eat and when to stop. Those that I'm proud to say that I have totally avoided are the spicy foods, coffee, tea, milk and citrus juices. Lately tho, I had a sip of milk that was served at church. It tasted good, but Laban now tastes better.
It was last August 2016 that I stopped drinking Laban Up as I began to have allergic reactions. My whole body swelled up and I was feeling itchy everywhere. It was my first time to have an allergic reaction to something so to make sure it wouldn't get worse, I had to stop taking Laban Up too. Good thing, I wasn't already feeling any stomach pain for at least a year at that time. As much as I would like to show you photos of the allergy for reference, I don't believe it'll be good as it's too gross to look at! Haha!
Anyway, to make the long story short, I just really thank God that those days are over. No more gastritis, no more pain. Thank God that through Laban Up, the pain was relieved. This post isn't a review or something but through this, I'm hoping you get some insights on what gastritis is like, and if you have any stomach pain, know that Laban Up might work too. Right now, the stomach pain I'm feeling is gone after applying medicated oil and writing this for about an hour. I therefore conclude that it is not gastritis. Just excess gas. While sleeping. With my mouth open. Imagine that. Yuck. Anyway.
Have a nice day peeps!
A mixture of life, love, faith, and everything in between. Welcome to my space!
