About three weeks ago, we had the chance to visit the amazing art work placed at the Cultural Palace just here in Sharjah.
Actually, there were already a few people telling us about it beforehand and although there were many places where the light show was held, we unfortunately just got to watch the show on the last day itself as we completely had no idea about it and missed out on a lot of the wonderful exhibits put up.We had a pretty long day at that time but we forced ourselves to just pass by the place which was around the Cultural Square R/A and it was definitely not worth the regret because everything was just amazing!
There are just two things that I learned from our visit and I thought I'd share it with you...
1 – Never ever blindly underestimate something – be it a place, thing or even someone just because you think that they aren't capable of doing or showing you something good or pleasing. Growing up in Sharjah, I always felt like I'm living in one of the most underdeveloped city around the UAE and that those living in Dubai have way better lives than I do, but then again, my realization struck me with an incredulously BIG no. Sharjah may look ancient and forgotten when in the industrial areas but it surely has those good places for families as its environment is mostly family- friendly; it's not always commercialized like the other cities which I believe is beneficial for everyone who want or aim for peaceful lives. (I am planning on writing up about the good stuff Sharjah has to amazingly offer so stay tuned for it!)
2 – Appreciate what is right before you. Sometimes, when you're obnoxiously preoccupied on finding ways to fulfill you, you're being and your happiness, you somehow forget that right before you, there is always something worth appreciating. Take a look at the things around you, your surroundings.. Believe it or not – there will be at least one thing you and I should be grateful for. I almost always find myself stuck in this kind of perception – that when the right time comes, I will be happy about everything happening in my life, but sometimes, it doesn't always happen that way and the truth is: contentment is what makes a person truly happy no matter what. It's no longer a matter of "to see is to believe".
In life, we will firsthand experience a lot of this things called 'prejudice' or the act of judging even before knowing the truth or even before giving something or someone a benefit of the doubt. As for me, I continually learn that not judging a book by it's cover is a saying that is truly applicable even up until today.
