Let's welcome the very first guest post on my site by the beautiful, Ms. Lacey!
My name, is Lacey Chiffon and I am an amateur Pinup model.! I chose the name “Lacey Chiffon” as a joke really. All the pinups have such cute and clever names, since my name is actually Lacey I wanted to think of a material that could come after that, since I wear a lot of chiffon head scarves I thought it was hilarious and it just kind of stuck, so if you’re wondering why I’m not Lady Lipstick or Bettie Devine, it’s because of a nickname that we all came to adore. I think every pinup has a similar yet very different story behind her style, I’m pretty sure this was my destiny due to the fact that growing up all I wanted to do was get my nose in a book. At first it was all about horror stories, and then I transitioned into history books. I was so interested in how we got to where we are now and I loved reading about WW2. While filling my young brain with all there was to know about the war I fell in love with the timeless fashion of the forties and fifties. As I got older and began to get to know myself, I started trying out new fashions which led to three years of bullying in Jr. High. Girls laughed at my clothes because they were different or at my hair because it had weird colors. It was a very painful time for me, I knew I had a lot to offer but no one would give me the time of day.
Fast forward to my first year of high school, I was starting at a new school. It was my clean slate! Time to make new friends and make the best of what was left of my youth, and really wanted to stand out. I was tired of the way I looked (and wasn't really confident) I had been looking for a new cut and color when I saw a picture of the infamous Bettie Page, needless to say my hair has been like this ever since. It brings me a lot of positivity. I dress like a Pinup everyday and always style my hair to vintage perfection. It is one of the things that has boosted my confidence, that and wearing clothes that actually make my figure stand out. Modern styles were not meant for my old soul. So now, even though adulthood has forced me into an awesome big girl job, I fill my free time (and I mean FILL) with car shows, pinup contests, and charity events all while spending time with my family!
This last February I turned eighteen which meant finally being able to compete in pinup contests! I decided early that I wanted to get to know some of the local classic car owners since it’s all one big happy retro community. I’ve been having a lot of fun getting to pose with the cars and hear their stories. At first it was just for fun, but now it is so much more than that. I’m making friends with girls, which has always been a struggle for me as I was bullied by the meanest girls known to man. The best part about these friends is that they are pinups too, it’s rare to come across people with the same interests as me so it’s been very exciting.
Because of popular demand from some of my new found friends (pinups and car owners alike) I began my website to blog about my car shows, contests and even my other very fun pinup adventures! For the past three years I’ve been asked how I get my eyeliner to look this way, and how I keep my lipstick looking fresh as well as how do you get a curl to stay and “you have to show me how you trim for you bangs!” so I’ve decided to start answering those questions for the whole world to see! In looking into other pinup-bloggers I saw they do a lot of product reviews so I will be reviewing hair products, different makeup, as well as clothing and accessories! I will let my readers know where to get these things and share my customer service experiences in these shops as well!
One of my main goals with my blog is to not only let others know about upcoming (public) events that I’m involved in/attending, is to make some new friends! Even if we’re states apart. I want to become a public figure, my goal is to get my name out there for fans, friends, and photographers. I hope to embody all there is to being a true pinup, whether it’s body positivity, beauty - inside and out - as well as helping others to do the same!
-Thank You Lacey!
